Meet our therapist -
Dr. Christina (Tina) Dunn Carpenter

LCPC (KS), LPC (MO),NCC, CCTP

I am a counselor who enjoys helping others to see their potential, work through their struggles, bond families together again, and help individuals reach their personal goals!  There is nothing more gratifying to me than to see someone take the courageous step to work through a difficult situation and grow in their self-esteem, self-worth, and identity. To me, life is all about others.  We live in community for a reason, and that's to be there as a shoulder to lean on, an ear to listen with, and a heart to care, in that you feel your best so you can fully live in this life!

I earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling from University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, MO, and a PhD in Education from Iowa State University in Ames, IA.  I hold a National Certified Counselor credential and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional Certification (CCTP).  My passion has always been equally both mental wellness and education.  I have over 20 years of counseling experience, am a counselor educator, and enjoy finding new processes to work with individuals as the world around us changes.

I ascribe to always meet the other with unconditional positive regard, I engage with Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Trauma Informed Treatments, and others.

Whether you are on a personal, spiritual, or career journey, or are wanting to strengthen your family, I would be honored to walk with you on this journey called life. I look forward to hearing from you and working with you!

Why seek out counseling?

Why seek out counseling?

It can help with

Anxiety/Depression

Many suffer from anxiety and/or depression. Working with someone to develop new strategies for managing them can enhance our way of living.

Family Issues

Let's face it, families are a system and sometimes the system needs work. Improving the ways we see ourselves in our families and learning new ways to interact can help our families become healthier and happier.

Spiritual

Sometimes we struggle with finding our purpose; why am I here? Getting in touch with our "source" can enlighten our lives and put us on a path of purpose and engagement that leaves us with a sense of fulfillment.

Career Direction/College Selection

Whether you're a young adult who is trying to choose a career, choose a major for college, or someone not satisfied in your current field and need to find a better fit in a career that gives you a feeling of purpose, there's a process to finding your passion!

Trauma

Trauma comes in all sizes and shapes and may leave us with a sense of loss, identity crisis, faulty coping mechanisms, etc. Working through trauma can lead us to a more healthy, satisfying life.

Stress

We all experience stress, and it can overwhelm and consume us.  We can learn new ways to manage stress and give ourselves the ability to take control.  Learning new ways to cope with our stressors gives us strength and motivation to grow healthier and tackle our goals with positive actions!

Well Wisdom's...

Well Wisdom's...

"Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition"
